Home Infusion is billed in three parts, the drugs, a per diem and the nursing visits.
The drug charge includes the main drug the patient is receiving, the diluent (which is the drug that is used to dilute the drug so that it can be given intravenously) and the flushes (which are the drugs used to flush a patient's line before and after each dose)
The per diem (per day) charge includes the Pharmacy compounding fee and supplies, Clinical pharmacy consultation services and patient monitoring by a Registered Pharmacist, 24 hour availability of Pharmacy and nursing staff, all necessary supplies and equipment, clinical management, patent training and assessment, patient educational material, hazardous/infectious materials handling and disposal, delivery and set up charges.
Nursing visits are billed only when the nurse comes to your home.
All of these charges make up a Home Infusion bill.
