Frequently Asked Question
|
-
Are home caregivers punctual?
Yes.
Being punctual is as important in a home care setting as it is in a formal business setting. But unavoidable delays occur from time-to-time due to heavy traffic, bad weather, or an unexpected problem on an earlier patient visit requiring immediate attention.
You should expect you home care visit within a half-hour (earlier or later) of the scheduled time. If your visit is delayed (or moved forward) outside of this half-hour window, we will call you to let you know. Similarly, if you cannot make you scheduled appoint, we expect that you will call us to reschedule--saving our personnel the
unnecessary trip.

-
Will my home care be provided by the same nurse each visit?
Yes and No.
While several different nurses may visit your home from time-to-time, only one nurse will be responsible for coordinating your care needs. This approach will ensure that things run smoothly, and will allow us to be as responsive as possible. All nurses on your care team, both the coordinating nurse and visiting nurses, will be well-trained to meet your care needs.
-
Will my home care provider be totally responsible for all of my care needs while I am receiving home healthcare service?
In the hospital, healthcare professionals assume full responsibility for a patients needs. One of the benefits of home care is that both patients and caregivers are taught the necessary skills to provide care themselves--with the support of the home care provider. This offers the patient independence and privacy (often with significant cost savings), but it is a TEAM effort.
Of course, patients are not expected to do everything for themselves. But if you or a home caregiver cannot participate in your care, home care may not be the right choice for you.
The TEAM consists of the patient, caregiver, home care provider, and physician.
-
The physician obviously plays a key role; he or she determines what services are needed, prescribes those services, and approves the plan of care.
-
The home care provider's role is one of support. Whenever a patient or caregiver has questions or concerns about home care, home care provider support professionals are available 24 hours a day.
-
The home caregiver works closely with both the patient and support professionals in delivering home care therapy/services.
-
The patient is arguably the most important team member. Patients participate in their own care as much as possible, and frequently become home care expert.
